“The more I see, the less I know for sure.” ― John Lennon

Life is interesting that way. As with training horses, in life the more you learn the less you find out you knew back when you thought you knew a lot. I can’t wait until I am old. Just think of watching people my age and saying to yourself, “If he could see what I have seen.” That will be fun.

Pam and I waited so long to have kids that neither she or my parents thought we would. I am really glad it worked out that way because of all the stress of a new farm, new clients and being newly married would have been difficult for them. Not to mention the weeks of Ramen noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The only advice I have for people who are struggling through their 20’s and 30’s is to hold on. You will make mistakes and you will have big problems. The key is to learn from the mistakes and problems and do it better next time. One of the truest statements is “The only way to fail is to quit.” Just like training horses, if you look at each problem as a learning experience and do it better next time you will be a success.

What lessons have you learned?
