Rearranging our prejudices
Change is the point. It’s what we seek to do to the world around us.
Change, actual change, is hard work. And changing our own minds is the most difficult place to start.
It’s also the only place to start.
It’s hard to find the leverage to change the way you see the world, hard to pull on your thoughtstraps. But it’s urgent.
“A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices…” William James

Changing your mind is not about deciding to eat better or save money or helping the homeless. Changing your mind is about changing the habits that create your reality. If I go on a diet for 6 months, I will lose weight, but if I don’t change my habits I will never keep eating healthy and eventually put the weight back on. Same goes for our jobs. Create the habit of your best work daily and the rest will work itself out.
I read Seth’s blog every day. Great insight on how things get done. I recommend his books as well.
