With it being Christmas tomorrow I was thinking about memories of Christmas from when I was a kid.  There are two memories that stand out involving horses.

My mother would ride a horse and with a long rope pull my sister and I on a toboggan.  The only sounds were the horses feet, the toboggan and our laughter.  I pull our kids behind a snowmobile because its easy, but I really need to give them the same experience before they grow up.

The second was when we would hook a horse to the bobsled and ride around the pasture or down the road.  My mother would put jingle bells on the harness.  The ringing of the bell and the clop of the horses feet is something I will never forget.  It was a wonderful experience.

I guess the thing that I like the most about these experiences is its all natural.  There are no sounds that are mechanical and no smells that aren’t natural.  There is something about nature that feeds the soul and settles the mind.  Christmas is the same.  The feeling you get when you are more excited to give a gift than receive one.

Christmas is a great time to reflect on memories of years past and make memories for the future.  Think about something you loved as a kid and share it with a friend or family member.  Or go out and do it!

Have a very Merry Christmas and thank you for reading.

What great memories, I too rode behind our little black pony on a tobaggan! I so enjoy your posts, Hoyt. Merry Christmas to you, Pam and kids.

Today, while I was at work, my sister stole my iPad and tested
to see if it can survive a 25 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed
and she has 83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I
had to share it with someone!
